About State Tribal Sub Plan :

Monitoring of Tribal Sub-Plan, based on the framework and mechanism designed by NITI Aayog, is one of the items allocated to the Ministry of Tribal Affairs under the Allocation of Business Rules.

The objective of the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) is to bridge the gap between Scheduled Tribe (ST) population and others by accelerating the development of STs by securing them: (i) Human resource development by enhancing access to education and health services, (ii) Enhanced quality of life by providing basic amenities in tribal areas/localities including housing; (iii) Substantial reduction in poverty and unemployment, creation of productive assets and income generating opportunities (iv) Enhanced capacity to avail opportunities, gain rights and entitlements and improved facilities at par with other areas, and (v) Protection against exploitation and oppression.

As per the last census, the total tribal population in the country stands at 10,45,45,716 which comes to 8.6 percentage of the overall population of the country. Presently Tribal Sub Plan covers 22 States and 4 UTs that have notified tribes (Scheduled Tribes) (as per census 2011), and these tribes are in a minority in the State/UT population. The portal reflects Tribal Sub Plan allocations from State/UT Budgets.
